AirBaltic Plans to Expand Fleet with Additional A220-300 Aircraft

AirBaltic Exercises Options for 10 A220-300s

Riga, Latvia - August 13, 2024 - AirBaltic, the national airline of Latvia, has announced the exercise of options for ten Airbus A220-300 aircraft. This brings the airline's total firm order for the A220-300 to 90 aircraft.

Expansion to a 100-Aircraft Fleet

With the addition of these ten aircraft, AirBaltic's fleet of A220-300s is expected to reach close to 100 by 2030. The airline currently operates a fleet of around 30 A220-300s, making it one of the largest operators of the type in Europe.

"This order is a testament to the confidence we have in the A220-300," said Martin Gauss, AirBaltic's chief executive. "It is an efficient, reliable, and comfortable aircraft that perfectly fits our business model. We are excited to continue to grow our fleet and bring the benefits of the A220-300 to our passengers."

A Doubled Fleet for a Brighter Future

This expansion will mark a significant milestone for AirBaltic, as it plans to double its fleet size in the coming years. The airline has ambitious growth plans, including the launch of new routes and the expansion of its network across Europe and beyond.

"We are confident that the A220-300 will play a key role in our future success," said Gauss. "It will enable us to offer our passengers a superior travel experience while also driving our profitability and sustainability goals."
